Meet Yumi

I understand how overwhelming it can feel to envision a beautiful home but have no time to bring it to life. My approach was shaped by living across cultures, moving continents, and creating a sense of home through every transition.I know what it’s like to picture a beautiful home and have no time to make it happen. That tension is exactly what shaped how I work and it comes from lived experience, not theory.

I grew up in Japan, where the quiet, considered nature of minimalist design settled into my bones early. In 2001, I moved to North America, and building a career here while starting over at home taught me something I still carry into every project: a well‑designed space isn’t a luxury - it’s what allows you to show up steadier in the rest of your life.

I began designing in 2009, renovating single‑family home in Vancouver. Later, as a senior designer and stylist for a well‑known Danish furniture brand, I worked with clients who had great taste but no time - no interest in chasing fabric swatches, tracking deliveries, or agonizing over a hundred small decisions. Seeing what that kind of support actually did for people is what led me to open YU+ME Design in 2018: a studio for people who want a beautifully designed home, guided, without having to do it all themselves.
